Carsington Water is a short distance away by car and offers ; walking, cycling (cycles available for hire) boating and fly fishing together with the opportunity of studying the abundance of wildlife from hides by the water's edge.

For those interested in coarse fishing, there are lakes at Ednaston, 6 miles away which allow days tickets.
